Facebook and Instagram were inaccessible for many users worldwide on Wednesday.
“We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps,” CNet quoted a Facebook spokesperson as saying. “We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
#facebookdown and #instagramdown are two of the top treading hashtags on Twitter for users in the United States with users reporting problems posts to the platforms.
Apparently the worldwide outage occurred at around noon Eastern Time.
No word on when the platforms are expected to be back online.

We’re focused on working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, but can confirm that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack.
