To the Mayor and City Council of Newport, Rhode Island

We are writing in support of three enterprising young Newporters Will Farley, Kayleigh Mosher and Peyton Gardner – three partners who run a business known as Viking Hot Dogs.
Last Friday there was a misunderstanding, which we deeply regret. We write this letter to make it clear that we encourage and support these enterprising young people as they provide much appreciated food and beverage services to those using the public beach as well as those finishing their tour of Newport’s Cliff Walk; and elsewhere in the city of Newport.
Many of our Club members have reached out to us on the Board over the past several days to let us know how much they admire these young men and women. We have an ongoing dialogue with their parents and with two of the partners to apologize and to emphasize just how much we applaud their efforts.
Their business plan is a sound one; their service has been well designed and carefully considered. They have arranged proper insurance, acquired licenses and conducted themselves in a very professional manner. Several of our Governors and members have commented on how proud their parents must be of these young men and women.
In a time where it can be difficult to identify citizenship in action we can think of no more shining examples than Will, Kayleigh and Peyton. They and their parents should be proud of what they have accomplished. We have been so impressed with the way they have conducted themselves.
The Board of Governors of the SRBA will voice no objections to these three engaging Rogers High School juniors and their enterprise. In fact we stand squarely beside the young entrepreneurs. We encourage the Mayor and the City Council to allow Viking Hot Dog to provide this greatly appreciated service.
