Rhode Islanders eager for summer can now purchase their 2025 state beach season parking passes online at www.beachparkingri.com. The Rhode Island DEM encourages beach goers to buy passes early to avoid long lines and delays when beach season kicks off.
Passes are available at the following rates: $30 for residents, $60 for non-residents, $15 for resident seniors, and $30 for non-resident seniors. Free disability passes are also available by contacting DEM directly. New this year, returning customers with unchanged vehicle registration info can skip the verification process, speeding up approval times.
DEM Director Terry Gray noted that early purchases help “offer quicker access to beach lots during the busy summer season.” Passes take up to 24 hours to validate, and are linked electronically to your license plate—no physical pass needed.
A heads-up for beachgoers heading to Roger Wheeler State Beach: renovations will delay its opening until Saturday, June 14. While facilities like restrooms, showers, and concessions will be open and lifeguards on duty, construction zones along the east and west ends of the beach and parking lot will limit space. Beach access will be available at both ends of the lot, primarily through the main pavilion.
Governor Dan McKee encouraged beach fans to plan ahead. “The more beachgoers who buy their parking passes ahead of time, the faster we’ll all be able to get on our beautiful beaches during the busy summer ahead.”
Gift certificates are also available for online purchase, making beach passes a perfect gift. A new in-person sales office will open at Fishermen’s Memorial State Park in Narragansett ahead of Memorial Day.
Express lanes are available at all state beaches except East Beach, Charlestown Breachway, and Salty Brine.
