The United States Postal Service has advised the Rhode Island Board of Elections that voters returning their ballot through first-class mail may experience longer delivery times than in past elections. This is due to the fact that first-class mail standards have changed to a processing time of two business days.
The Board of Elections strongly recommends that absentee voters place their ballots into the mail by Friday, Nov. 4 to ensure their ballot is delivered by the deadline which is 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8. The postmark date is not applicable.
Voters may also hand-deliver their ballot to the Board of Elections at 50 Branch Ave, Providence, RI 02904 during normal business hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or through an available after-hours drop slot.
