Bill Cunningham, the iconic fashion photographer for the New York Times, was in Newport for our triennial coaching weekend.
Cunningham writes:
A highlight of the Newport coaching weekend was a luncheon given by Eaddo and Peter Kiernan (No. 1) at their home, where the Frederick Law Olmsted gardens have been restored to their original splendor. A tent for 200 guests was set among the gardens that overlook Narragansett Bay. The 11 coaches from the morning drive were parked on the lawn that sweeps down to the bay. Hats added to the festivities.
