Rhiannon Giddens, the singer, violinist and banjo player best known as a founding member of the Grammy-winning country, blues and old-time music band Carolina Chocolate Drops, has been added to the line up of the sold-out 2017 Newport Folk Festival. Giddens is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina and a 2000 graduate of Oberlin Conservatory where she studied opera.
This girl is amazing, I feel bad for whoever is playing opposite her at the festival on Sunday, July 30th because their stage is going to be empty. So excited!
