Lt. General Michael Flynn, a native of Middletown, RI, has been receiving lots of press as Donald Trump’s possible pick for Vice President.
In late May, the NY Post highlighted the retired general.
A surprise name on the list is retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, a national security adviser to Trump who has emerged as one of the most buzzed-about veep contenders, sources familiar with the deliberations said.
Flynn retired in 2014 after a 33-year career in military intelligence that included hunting down terrorists as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Flynn would be an outside-the-box choice because Trump has strongly suggested he would likely select someone connected to Congress or with elective experience to be his veep.
and this weekend the speculation heated up on the Washington Post
After weeks of focusing on a group of current and former elected officials in his search for a running mate, Donald Trump is increasingly intrigued by the idea of tapping retired Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn to project strength and know-how on national security, according to four people familiar with the vetting process.

Retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, a possible vice presidential pick for presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump, came out in favor of abortion rights on Sunday, taking a stand on a divisive issue that puts him sharply at odds with the majority of Republican officeholders, activists and voters.
Lt. Gen. Flynn, a registered Democrat who most recently served in President Barack Obama’s administration as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, said in an interview with ABC News that women “have to be able to choose” whether to get an abortion. “They are the ones that have to make the decision because they’re the ones that are going to decide to bring up that child or not,” he said.

Retired Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, the latest name to be thrown into the mix of Donald Trump’s potential running mates, is a 33-year Army veteran with a reputation for being unafraid to shake things up.
NBC News confirmed that the three-star general is being vetted by the Trump campaign. He is the first non-politician known to be under consideration by Trump and would put national security at the forefront of the real estate mogul’s campaign.
The chatter around who will be presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump‘s vice presidential pick has turned to an unlikely dark horse candidate–Retired Army Lieutenant General Michael Flynn. But with that new attention comes scrutiny, and some of Flynn’s positions put him at odds with GOP orthodoxy.
In an interview on ABC’s “This Week,” the former chief of the Defense Intelligence Agency shared his views on some key social issues, including his pro-choice stance.
“I think women have to be able to choose…sort of, the right of choice.” said Flynn, adding, “They are the ones that have to make the decision because they’re the ones that are going to decide to bring up that child or not.”
As the military’s top spy, Michael Flynn repeatedly butted heads with the Obama administration during a rocky tenure in which he was ultimately forced out. He then broke ranks with most national security leaders in Washington when he became one of the earliest backers of Donald Trump.
Now Flynn, 57, who has briefed Trump in person and penned memos for him, has emerged as more than a valued informal adviser — he’s a potential running mate.Trump associates say that Flynn has been the subject of growing discussions inside the campaign, as Trump himself has signaled publicly that he is exploring a running mate from outside the ranks of politicians, including from the military.
