A 57-year-old man was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in an accident on West Main Road in Middletown. The 57-year-old man was driving his moped south on West Main Road when he was struck by a northbound pickup-truck when the driver attempted to turn left on Chase’s Lane. The pickup-truck hit the moped.
The operator of the moped suffered serious head trauma and multiple other injuries, he was brought to Newport Hospital and then was airlifted from Braga Park to Rhode Island Hospital by Boston Medflight 1. His condition is not known at this time.
The accident is under investigation and no charges have been filed.
