Helen “Bunnie” F. Quinn, 71, of Newport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at the home of her daughter following a hard fought five month battle with brain cancer.
She was the devoted mother of Tara Quinn Reilly and grandmother of Andrew Reilly (10) and Fiona Reilly (8) of Middletown, RI.
Born on January 2, 1945 in Pawtucket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence A. and Helen V. Flynn.
Bunnie attended Sacred Heart School in Pawtucket, RI and the University of Rhode Island. She had a 40-year career in real estate sales, most recently with the Newport office of Lila Delman. She also worked part time at Bellevue Capital for the past twenty years.
She loved gardening, knitting and was an avid reader. She would very often host her grandchildren for sleepovers, which included baking or gardening projects or watching Patriots football games with her grandson.
She was a member of the Newport Garden Club, the Clambake Club and Spouting Rock Beach Association.
She was immensely thankful and felt fortunate to have her dear friends and family’s support during the past five months.
In addition to her daughter Tara, her son in law Andrew K. Reilly and her two grandchildren Andrew and Fiona, she is survived by her brothers Neil Flynn and Dennis Flynn and her sister Marybeth Kelleher as well as several nieces and nephews and was the sister of the late Peter Flynn and Paula Gaudreau.
Bunnie’s funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Spring Street, Newport, RI. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Burial will be private.
