James R. Chapman Jr., 67 of Newport, would like to announce that he has accepted eternal employment with his Lord and Savior. His employment began suddenly on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, after a short illness. We have been informed that his new position comes with an enormous salary, job security and more perks than we can ever imagine. He has chosen his own responsibilities and will be spending his time enjoying the most beautiful sunsets, art, painting, films, travel and singing with the angels. Music, laughter, kindness, and love, like he provided to so many, will be lavished upon him. We also understand that the food, at his new post, is unparalleled and that you will never gain an ounce. You can only imagine his excitement.
He has left specific instructions for his siblings and their spouses: Sandra and James Kavney of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Peter and Cindy Chapman of Warren, RI, and Arthur and Meredith Chapman of Portsmouth, RI; as well as to his nieces, nephews, many cousins, and friends. He wants us to celebrate his life and cherish the memories we have made together. Finally, he wanted to specifically thank his beloved cousin, Suzanne Gibson of Newport, for her kindness, devotion, and help in guiding him toward his new position in the hereafter. Those who fail to celebrate his life with joy, humor, and love, may be haunted.
A Mass of Christian Burial and final celebration of his life will take place on Friday, November 17, 2017, at 10:00 am at St. Augustin’s Church, 2 Eastnor Rd, Newport, RI. Burial will be private.
