RIP Mark Mecklenburg

Mark David Mecklenburg died January 29, 2016 after a four-year battle with colon cancer. He was born on October 5, 1964 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Roy and Eleanor Mecklenburg.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, John Mecklenburg, and sister- in-law, Anita of Norfolk, Mass., his sister, Jane Robinson of Chicago, his nieces Amelia and Eliza Mecklenburg and Ivy Robinson, many aunts, uncles and cousins and a truly remarkable and diverse circle of friends.

Mark grew up in Deerfield, Ill., graduated from Highland Park High School, attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and completed a course of study at the Chapman School of Seamanship. Mark worked for several years on private sail and motor yachts before settling in the Newport area. At the time of his death he was Production Supervisor at North Sails in Milford, Conn.

Mark touched the lives of everyone he met. He played hard, teased hard and loved hard. Those who knew him considered themselves blessed, and will remember him with a smile and certainly, a story.
