Robert J. Delehanty III, age 64, of Portsmouth, RI, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 8, 2018.
He was the son of Philomena “Phyllis” Delehanty of Newport and the late Robert J. Delehanty Jr. He leaves behind his three daughters Taylor (24) of Newport, Morgan (21) of Orlando, FL, and Ailish (19) of Portsmouth and two grandchildren, Jalen and Avery O’Loughlin; as well as his siblings Edward Delehanty of Newport, Colleen Brietenstein of Newport, Sheila Delehanty-Picillo of Warwick, RI and Brian Delehanty of Westerly.
Bobby was born in Newport and spent the majority of his life in the restaurant industry. He spent 21 years bartending at Sabina Doyle’s on Thames Street, this led to many lifelong friendships and opportunities. For the past few years Bobby was a chauffeur for Langway Toyota and the Hampton Inn Hotel.
His early years were spent frequently traveling to Ireland, London, Italy, and many other destinations. He looked forward to his annual vacation to Florida with his family. He always made sure his girls were his first priority regardless of any hardships life handed him. His infectious smile and positive attitude could lighten up any room.
Bobby looked forward to cooking a meal every night, especially his homemade fried chicken. He always caught the 5 o’clock local news followed by his favorite show, Family Feud. Every Sunday he cheered on the Patriots with his grandson Jalen. The love he shared with every single person, especially his daughters, will remain indescribable. May he forever Rest in Peace.
Calling hours will be held Friday, December, 14 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Hambly Funeral Home, 30 Red Cross Ave, Newport.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Spring St. Newport.
