Roger Leonard Buck was born November 19, 1927, in Mansfield, Massachusetts, to Ralph A. and Fannie E. Buck. Valedictorian of the Class of 1945 at Mansfield High School, Buck attended Boston University before being admitted to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
