In a not so unexpected move, Gatehouse Media, the New York based parent company of the Newport Daily News, has decided to stop publishing the Newport Mercury. The Newport Mercury, the popular weekly newspaper which was first published in 1758, is the first casualty of the takeover from the Japanese owned, New York based media conglomerate.

We welcome any and all of the Newport Mercury’s advertisers to come join Newport Buzz. We have more readers and a more highly engaged audience than every media outlet in Newport combined!
