As summer approaches, Middletown residents and vis As summer approaches, Middletown residents and visitors can now prepare for a hassle-free beach season with the announcement of Second Beach parking stickers going on sale online starting April 7th. The seasonal passes, which are required to park at the popular beach, will be available for purchase through the town’s official website. For Middletown residents, the cost of a seasonal pass is $90, with a discounted rate of $85 for seniors aged 65 and older. Motorcycle and scooter owners who reside in the town can also secure a pass for $40. Non-residents are also welcome to purchase seasonal passes, with rates set at $180 for standard vehicles, $170 for non-resident seniors, and $80 for motorcycles and scooters. The online sale marks the beginning of an early opportunity to secure parking for the upcoming beach season, which runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Parking rates at the beach will be $35 on weekends and holidays and $25 on weekdays. Residents are reminded that proof of Middletown residency is required when purchasing a seasonal pass. Accepted documents include: * Automobile registration with a Middletown address * Middletown real estate tax bill, receipt for taxes paid, or the name on the tax roll * A valid residential lease for a Middletown property of at least 12 months duration * Military housing orders along with a valid Middletown residential lease (Utility bills will not be accepted as proof of residency.) In-person sticker sales will begin on May 17th at Second Beach for those who prefer to purchase in person. Rhode Island state Rep. Enrique Sanchez (D-Provide Rhode Island state Rep. Enrique Sanchez (D-Providence) pleaded guilty Friday to refusing a breathalyzer test, resolving part of the legal case stemming from his DUI arrest in February. According to court records, Sanchez entered the guilty plea in the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal. In exchange, prosecutors dropped a charge of failing to obey traffic signals. The judge sentenced him to an alcohol treatment program, 10 hours of community service, and six months with an ignition interlock device on his vehicle. Sanchez must also pay more than $900 in court fees. Sanchez was arrested in Cranston on Feb. 3 after an officer pulled him over near Reservoir Avenue. The officer reported that Sanchez appeared “confused” and that there was a “heavy odor of alcoholic beverage” on his breath. According to police, Sanchez asked if he could call an Uber after declining to take field sobriety tests, which officers told him was not an option. He was then arrested on suspicion of DUI. While Sanchez’s guilty plea settles the refusal charge, he still faces a DUI charge in Bristol County Superior Court. #rhodeisland #cranstonri #dui #newportbuzz
