PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Providence College has named Br PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Providence College has named Bryan Hodgson as its 17th men’s basketball head coach, officials announced Sunday.

Hodgson arrives after a standout 2025-26 season at South Florida, where he led the Bulls to a 25-9 record, an American Athletic Conference title, and their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2012. He was named conference Coach of the Year.

In three seasons as a head coach, Hodgson has compiled a 70-37 record, including a successful turnaround at Arkansas State with back-to-back 20-win seasons.

“Bryan is a proven winner,” Athletic Director Steve Napolillo said.

Before becoming a head coach, Hodgson was an assistant at Alabama, helping guide the program to multiple NCAA Tournament runs.

“I’m honored and excited,” Hodgson said. “We’re going to build something tough, disciplined and relentless.”

He will be introduced Tuesday at Mullaney Gym as Providence looks to begin a new era.
