The move is more than symbolic — it’s the first time this election cycle that a sitting statewide general officer has endorsed a candidate for lieutenant governor, signaling early momentum in what’s expected to be a competitive race. Neronha, a lifelong Rhode Islander, has served as attorney general since 2018 after nearly three decades as a state and federal prosecutor, including a stint as U.S. Attorney under President Barack Obama.
