Eighteen-time Grand Slam champion Martina Hingis is featured in a new 30-second public service announcement that has been created to generate awareness for the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
The new PSA was filmed in July at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island. During filming, Hingis had the opportunity to tour the newly renovated museum at the International Tennis Hall of Fame and to hit on the grass courts. When filming wrapped, she took some time to enjoy the Hall of Fame grounds, staying after to play tennis on the historic grass courts and to try her hand at croquet.
“It was such a treat to explore the new museum at the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The new museum is sleek and engaging. It has a much more modern feel and there is just so much to see and do. There are countless great photos and videos, tons of interesting objects, and new interactive exhibits that showcase our sport’s greatest moments,” said Hingis.
She continued, “I really enjoyed my time in the museum and visiting the beautiful Hall of Fame grounds. It’s a special place for the tennis world and I hope this new PSA will encourage more and more fans to plan a visit or to get involved in some way with the Hall of Fame’s work to celebrate our sport’s great history.”
The PSA is a part of the Hall of Fame’s new branding campaign, which is focused on showcasing the history of tennis through the unique and inspiring stories of the Hall of Famers, just as the museum exhibits do. In this case, it highlights Hingis’ story of her commitment to excellence in tennis from a young age and growing up with admiration for Martina Navratilova. The spot also features narration by Tennis Channel’s Bill Macatee.
Hingis was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2013. Earlier this year she became the Hall of Fame’s first-ever Global Ambassador, a position that sees her taking an active role to promote the Hall of Fame’s mission of preserving and celebrating the history of tennis around the world.
The PSA will first be used this week on-site at the US Open, and it will air on Tennis Channel in the months ahead. Moving forward, it will be shown on jumbotrons at tennis events around the world, including the upcoming Asian swing for the WTA.
The :30 public service announcement was produced by Doner, a full-service advertising agency with offices in Detroit, Atlanta, Cleveland, London, and Los Angeles. Doner has been working with the International Tennis Hall of Fame for the past year on an overall re-branding of the organization.
