Commanding Officer of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport Relieved of Duty

The Commanding Officer of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport Division was relieved of duty June 1 by the Commander of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, Rhode Island.

Rear Admiral Moises DelToro III relieved Captain Howard Goldman due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command based on findings of an investigation into a hostile work environment and poor command climate.

Goldman has served as commanding officer of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport Division since November 2014. He has been reassigned to Naval Station Newport.

Captain Geoffrey G. DeBeauclair, chief of staff for Commander, Naval Undersea Warfare Center, has temporarily assumed command of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport Division until a permanent relief is assigned.
