Kristen Pacheco has been named the 2025 Teacher of Kristen Pacheco has been named the 2025 Teacher of the Year for Middletown, recognizing her dedication, leadership, and commitment to student success. Ms. Pacheco, a Grade 6 Math teacher at Gaudet Middle School, began her career in Middletown in 2014 and has been a cornerstone of the school’s team ever since. She teaches a variety of classes, including Grade 6 Math, Accelerated Math, and an intervention block. Known as the “Team Captain” by her colleagues, Ms. Pacheco is praised for her organizational skills, planning, and ability to use data effectively to group students for targeted interventions, helping them thrive academically. Beyond the classroom, Ms. Pacheco plays a pivotal role in the district. She serves as a Tech Coach, Mentor, Cooperating Teacher, and a leader in Mathematics. Her influence extends to her work with NEA Middletown, where she is a representative, Public Relations officer, Budget Committee member, and negotiator. Ms. Pacheco’s commitment to her students goes beyond standard teaching practices. She is known for creating an inclusive classroom environment, where she adapts her teaching methods to meet the needs of every learner. Her high standards are evident in her constant efforts to ensure all students master the material, with video lessons available for students who miss class or need additional support. As summer approaches, Middletown residents and vis As summer approaches, Middletown residents and visitors can now prepare for a hassle-free beach season with the announcement of Second Beach parking stickers going on sale online starting April 7th. The seasonal passes will be available for purchase through the town’s official website. For Middletown residents, the cost of a seasonal pass is $90, with a discounted rate of $85 for seniors aged 65 and older. Motorcycle and scooter owners who reside in the town can also secure a pass for $40. Non-residents are also welcome to purchase seasonal passes, with rates set at $180 for standard vehicles, $170 for non-resident seniors, and $80 for motorcycles and scooters. The online sale marks the beginning of an early opportunity to secure parking for the upcoming beach season, which runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Parking rates at the beach will be $35 on weekends and holidays and $25 on weekdays. Residents are reminded that proof of Middletown residency is required when purchasing a seasonal pass. Accepted documents include: * Automobile registration with a Middletown address * Middletown real estate tax bill, receipt for taxes paid, or the name on the tax roll * A valid residential lease for a Middletown property of at least 12 months duration * Military housing orders along with a valid Middletown residential lease (Utility bills will not be accepted as proof of residency.) In-person sticker sales will begin on May 17th at Second Beach for those who prefer to purchase in person.
