Newport’s restaurant community goes pedal to the Newport’s restaurant community goes pedal to the metal from spring through the holidays, many taking a break in early January. @midtownoysterbar closed for a quick winter refresher and reopens Jan. 9. The @speakeasy_barandgrill crew headed to Cancun for an annual staff trip, back to open their doors on Jan. 10. The @theblackpearlrestaurant’s will remain closed until around Parade Day in March. In the 5th Ward, @zeldasnewport is currently on hiatus, re-opening Jan. 16, @scalesandshellsnpt is now closed through Feb. 11, and @hookednewport is on break until April 1. Meanwhile, if you’re taking a little belly breather after season’s eatings, your gut will thank you for a bowl of @diegosnewport’s brothy, deeply flavorful, and authentic Mexican chicken tortilla soup with pulled chicken, chopped veggies, and crispy tortilla strips. A squeeze of lime, and you’re cured of all that ails you. A similar restorative elixir can be found in @bottegabocconi’s Ribollita, a hearty Tuscan soup chock full of vegetables and cannellini beans, thickened with bread, ready to take home and re-heat. But when a bowl of soup won’t cut it, go straight to @thequenchernewport for the house-made tagliatelle Funghi. The noodles are luxuriously bathed in a silky, sage truffle cream and pecorino sauce, studded with meaty roasted mushrooms and bits of butternut squash so tender that they add to the luxurious mouthfeel without imparting too much sweetness. Ask for extra parm and call me in the morning. If you’re looking for some foodie fun this season, check out the @surfclubnewport’s pizza classes, but hurry, because they sell out quickly. Biden’s decision, made under the 1953 Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, could make it harder for President-elect Donald Trump to reverse the ban when he takes office. “This is about protecting the places we hold dear for our children and grandchildren,” Biden said, stressing the environmental and climate impacts of offshore drilling. The @bostoncalling Music Festival is gearing up fo The @bostoncalling Music Festival is gearing up for its 2025 return with a powerhouse lineup. Country star @lukecombs, pop-punk favorites @falloutboy, and iconic jam band @davematthewsband will headline the three-day event, set for May 23-25 at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Boston, Massachusetts. 
Each headliner will top off a day filled with performances from more than 50 artists across multiple genres. On Friday, May 23, Luke Combs takes center stage after a day featuring Megan Moroney, Sheryl Crow, T-Pain, TLC, and other standout acts. Saturday, May 24, brings Fall Out Boy to the main stage, with Avril Lavigne, Cage The Elephant, The Black Crowes, and All Time Low rounding out the day. Dave Matthews Band will close out the festival on Sunday, May 25, with support from Vampire Weekend, Sublime, Public Enemy, Remi Wolf, and Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello. 
Boston Calling organizers have announced significant changes to improve the attendee experience.
