Christine E. Connell passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2017. Christine was born on April 26, 1965 in Newport. She was the daughter of Jane M. Connell and the late John “Okie” Connell of Newport, RI.
Christine grew up in Newport, graduated from Rogers High School in 1983 and later continued her education and graduated from Katherine Gibbs Business School. Christine loved to travel and held many jobs in the business industry.
Coming back to Newport she had a great passion for gardening. Christine also had a love of the ocean.
Besides her mother, Christine is survived by her brothers and sisters, Michael F. Connell and Jane Full of Newport, John Connell of Portsmouth, Dennis Connell of South Carolina, Linda Closter of Block Island, Patty Bestoso and Mimi Cheever of Warren and Cindy Macioci of Middletown. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 5-7 pm on Thursday, March 9, 2017 in the O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring Street, Newport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at St. Augustin’s Church, Carroll Avenue, Newport at 10 am. Burial will be private.
