First Ever Great White Birthing Site Discovered 40 Miles South Of Rhode Island Coast

Ocearch said its team of fishermen and scientists has found the first known birthing site for great white sharks on the North Atlantic Coast. After 26 expeditions, this is the most significant discovery Ocearch has ever made!!!

Ocearch has tagged nine juvenile great white sharks on this expedition.

Chris Fischer, founder of Ocearch and the expedition’s leader, told CBS News, “It’s kind of like step two in the science. When we started this work back in 2012, the real question was where are these sharks in the North Atlantic giving birth? Because that’s where they’re most vulnerable.” Ocearch claims that finding of the Atlantic birthing site can lead to better protection policies for Great Whites and far more scientific knowledge.
