This is just horrible. A woman was hit in the head with a broken bat during tonight’s Red Sox game at Fenway park.

Alex Merlas of Brookline told the Boston Globe, “Brett Lawrie hit the ball and the bat snapped in half near the end of the bat. It hit on the forehead to the top of the head … it was a blunt trauma and it was a lot of blood. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that much blood.”

The woman who was at the game with her husband and child was carted away on a stretcher and is in surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, according to Boston police spokesman David Estrada.

God Bless this cop who is trying to console the woman’s child.

So scary. Prayers that she makes it through this ok…
