There was an accident involving a rental three-wheel scooter and an SUV on Ocean Avenue at Hazard Road Sunday at approximately 3:30pm.
The incident involved an 11-year-old boy who was treated at the scene by the Newport Fire Department and transported to Newport Hospital, he is now being transferred to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence by ALERT Ambulance. The boy is in bad shape with a major head injury. The mother, who was driving the scooter, was transported to Newport Hospital and in serious condition at this time.
(Update 1 – 7/29) The mother has been transported to the Rhode Island Trauma Center.
