The Newport Folk Festival announced today that Neko Case, k.d. lang, and Laura Veirs have been added to the 2016 lineup. The singer-songwriter dream team will perform at the sold-out festival on Friday, July 22nd.
“Atomic Number,” the first single from the veteran power-trio was released earlier today.
The project has been in the works for some time: lang and Case performed on Veirs’ 2013 release “Warp and Weft,” and lang spurred the supergroup collaboration with an email: “I think we should make a record together,” she wrote, according to a press release.
“Laura and I both responded immediately. There was no question,” Case added.
