RIP Joey Sullivan

 

Eugene “Joey” Sullivan, Jr., 46, of Newport died Friday, April 15, 2016 unexpectedly at home.

Born on April 28, 1969 in Newport, RI, he was the son of Eugene J. “Joe” Sullivan of Lake Worth, FL and the late Ruthann (Haught) Sullivan.

Joey grew up on Carey Street and graduated from Rogers High School in 1987. He began work with the former Industrial National Bank, Fleet and finally Citizens Bank. He moved on to work for Enterprise Rental Car and went to South Carolina for a few years with Hertz. Most recently he was working for the Inns of Newport.  Joey may have moved around the Island a lot but he remained a 5thWarder, and Irish Charmer, who would light up any room when he entered it, always making everyone laugh.

Besides his father, he is survived by his siblings, Jeffrey M. Sullivan of Warren, RI, Kimberly Ann Matthews and her husband Dean of Newport, RI and Christine Marie Sullivan of Middletown, RI, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, from 5:00-7:00pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with services to follow at 7:00pm.
