William “Bill” Macioci, age 58, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at home. Bill was born on August 9th, 1959 to the late Joseph J. and Mary C. Macioci of Newport, RI. Bill graduated from Rogers High School and then The University of Rhode Island. He will be forever remembered as a loving father, husband, brother and friend to many. He was a kindhearted member of the community whose selflessness and good humor endeared him to anyone that crossed his path. We have truly lost a hero.
Bill was a 23-year veteran of the Middletown Police Department, Badge #8. His career involved many aspects of law enforcement from Patrol Division, Detective, DEA and Boat Patrol. However, the role that he enjoyed most was Instructor for the State of Rhode Island Police Motorcycle Training Course. After retiring from the department, he pursued his passion of carpentry by co-launching The Plumb and Square Construction Company.
The ultimate thrill seeker, if Bill wasn’t piloting the skies he was jumping out of the plane, if he wasn’t navigating the seas, he was being towed behind the boat, and if he was anywhere else you could find him driving around on any one of his countless sports cars and motorcycles he owned throughout the years. In his downtime he enjoyed maintaining his trucks, motorcycles and cars, woodworking, photography, reading, watching sunsets and watching reruns of Seinfeld. Most of all, he found his greatest pleasure in his children, Billy and John who he enjoyed bringing to sporting events, country concerts, and anywhere else they could be together. He will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
Bill is survived by his wife, Cindy Connell Macioci; his two children, Billy Jr. and John of Middletown; his siblings Michael Macioci and Liz Macioci both of Portsmouth and Katie Macioci Snee of Cohasset, MA. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Jesus Savior Church, 509 Broadway Newport at 9:00 am. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be held at the O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring Street, Newport, Thursday, June 21 from 4-7pm.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Jesus Savior Church and watch a sunset in his memory.
