The Roger Williams Zoo family got a little bigger on February 1st with the birth of four North American river otters – two girls, and two boys. The river otters were born to mom Mishi and dad Clyde, who passed away last April 2020.
Mom and babies are bonding behind-the-scenes and will remain off exhibit for several weeks.
Young North American river otters first open their eyes at one month of age, start walking at nearly six weeks and will begin learning to swim at just under eight weeks.
Zookeepers have yet to decide on names for the pups.
