Christian Winthrop, Founder of Newport Buzz and Palm Beach Buzz
Christian Winthrop is a fifth-generation Newporter, media entrepreneur, and former national political campaign consultant. He is the founder and editor of Newport Buzz and Palm Beach Buzz, two high-growth digital news platforms serving audiences in New England and South Florida.
Winthrop began his career in national politics in 1998 and went on to work on multiple congressional, U.S. Senate, and presidential campaigns. His experience includes serving as campaign manager, deputy campaign manager, finance director, and political writer for members of Congress, giving him deep insight into government, public affairs, and political communications.
In 2008, Christian Winthrop transitioned into media and entertainment, joining Hearst Corporation in New York City as an entertainment producer, where he worked on national television commercials and documentary projects. He later returned to Newport and, in 2011, founded Newport Buzz, which quickly became the most-read digital news source in Newport County.
Building on that success, Winthrop expanded his media footprint to Florida with the launch of Palm Beach Buzz, applying the same hyper-local, community-first journalism model to Palm Beach County. Today, both platforms are known for breaking news, lifestyle coverage, civic reporting, and strong digital engagement.
