The Office of the Mayor announces the resignation of City Councilor-at- Large, John Florez, effective January 9, 2018. The City appreciates the service of Councilor Florez over the past three years and wishes him well in his future endeavors.
The Mayor’s Office would like to invite Newport residents interested in filling the at-large Council position to submit a letter of interest detailing why you would like to serve for the remainder of the current Council term (January 9 through December 1, 2018). Please include your resume along with the cover letter and submit to the Office of the Mayor, City Hall, 43 Broadway, Newport, RI 02840. Submissions may also be made via email to: hwinthrop@cityofnewport.com with a copy to pcofield@cityofnewport.com. The deadline for submission is Friday, December 15, 2017.
