The Newport Police Department is currently investigating a stabbing that occurred early Monday morning in the area of Farewell Street and Broadway. At approximately 1:25am, a 24-year-old Portsmouth man was stabbed eight times and was transferred to Newport Hospital and later transferred to Rhode Island Hospital where he is currently being treated and in stable condition.
This is an ongoing investigation currently being investigated by members of the Criminal Investigations Division. Newport Police say this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
