A Cranston man is facing multiple charges after an investigation revealed he had been sending explicit material to a minor and was found in possession of child pornography, according to Portsmouth Police.
Nicholas Antoniou, 36, was arrested on the morning of April 17, 2025, following an investigation by the Portsmouth Police Detective Division into a report of electronically disseminating indecent material to a 14-year-old in Portsmouth.
Authorities say detectives obtained several pieces of evidence during the investigation, including online communications between Antoniou and the juvenile. Based on this information, an arrest warrant was issued.
Antoniou was taken into custody without incident by the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force in Cranston and transported to the Portsmouth Police Department for processing. While reviewing electronic devices, detectives also discovered files containing child pornography.
He was arraigned later that day in the 2nd Division District Court on two counts of electronically disseminating indecent material to a minor and one count of possession of child pornography.
Antoniou’s bail was set at $5,000 with surety. As a condition of his release, he is prohibited from having any contact with minors and from using the internet, smartphones, or computers.
The investigation is ongoing.
