The Fort Adams Trust announced that they have launched a free summer concert series at the Eisenhower House in Fort Adams State Park themed and titled, “Music on the Porch.” The concerts will be open to the public to attend from 5-7 PM starting with the Lois Vaughn Quartet on Thursday, June 29th, followed by the United States Navy Band on Wednesday, July 12th and a final event Thursday, August 17th with the musicians yet to be determined. Parking is free and refreshments are available from Newport Storm Breweries as well as, special cuisine from Blackstone Caterers’ A Fork in the Road food truck. The concerts are for all ages and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets to sit on the lawn while they enjoy the music and views of Narragansett Bay.
“With the addition of the Eisenhower House to the Trust’s portfolio of entertainment and event venues, we felt it would be a nice community gesture to have family oriented performances from the Eisenhower House,” offered Joe Dias, Executive Director for the Fort Adams Trust. “Given the interest and success of our Free Tours weekends, it seemed like a logical extension for locals and summer visitors to experience the House in a different format.”
“The Eisenhower House is a unique and special property that the Trust is so happy to manage as it is very different from the fort and its various vantage points,” stated Jen Chapin, Director of Special Events for the Fort Adams Trust. “The House and its wrap around porch make for a perfect setting to have performances that entertain everyone and just adds to what makes Newport summers so special.”
