The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy pulled the Orleans, MA shark receivers (off Nauset Beach) on December 5th to compile electronic data from the tagged great white sharks in the area.
Here’s what they found:
October – 11 tagged sharks were detected
November – 5 tagged sharks were detected
December – 1 tagged shark (Marianne) was detected in the first week
One of the sharks detected in November was Betsy, a white shark tagged by OCEARCH off Chatham in 2013 (visit www.ocearch.org to follow her movements).
Some of the other white sharks that spent time off Nauset Beach this fall were: Salty, Maj. Mike Donahue, Brady, Sandy, SPC. Brian Arsenault, Annie, Mara, and Spike!
