Labor Day warning issued over increased great white sightings

With ever increasing great white sightings off Cape Cod, researchers have issued a Labor Day Weekend warning to swimmers and beach goers.

“We’ve already seen as many sharks this year as we did last year,” said Dr. Greg Skomal, of the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries.

and they’re coming closer and closer to shore…

“Seals are riding along the shoreline, which of course draws the sharks in very, very close.”

On Monday alone, marine biologists tracked nearly two dozen, 23 of them in a 10-mile stretch, along the coast of the cape.

So stay safe out there and follow our Five Tips To Avoid Great White Sharks and be mindful of the new regulations put in place for great whites.
