Janet Ellen Faerber, 67, of Portsmouth, RI formerly of Middletown passed away at home on Saturday, April 21, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
Janet was born in Newport, the daughter of Frederick W. Faerber Jr. and Gisele (Duval) Faerber of Newport.
Janet graduated from Rogers High School in 1969. She graduated from Salve Regina University in 1973 with a BA in Psychology and Elementary Education. After teaching for a short period, Janet worked at the RI Division of Motor Vehicles in Newport while attended the Newport Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated in 1984 and began her nursing career at Newport Hospital, working in ICU and Surgical Services. Janet excelled as a nurse and provided exemplary bedside nursing to her patients. Janet was employed by Newport Hospital for over 20 years. She spent some time as a traveling nurse, but always returned to her beloved Newport. Janet continued her nursing career at Southcoast Health working in Fall River at Charlton Hospital as Manager in Perioperative Services and later as a Diabetic Educator, working in Wareham, MA. She retired from Nursing in 2013.
Janet is survived by sisters: her twin, Mary Foley (William) of Portsmouth, Gisele Napolitano (Arthur) of Leland, NC, and by her two brothers: Frederick W. Faerber III of Portsmouth and Marc Faerber of Pleasanton, CA. She loved and enjoyed the company of her 11 nieces and nephews: William Foley, Jr., Bristol; Kristin Speck, Rock Island, TX; Traci Napolitano, Indian Trail, NC; Kim Napolitano, Newport; Marc Faerber, Seattle, WA; Renee Fuca, Ontario, Canada; Patrick Faerber, NYC; Alicia Faerber, Winston-Salem, NC; Aimee Lominac, Wakefield, MA; Jonathan Faerber, Mountain View, CA; and Meghan Bruss, Oakland, CA; along with 12 great nieces and great nephews. Janet’s beloved brother Frank Faerber predeceased her in 2007.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, April 29 from 4:00 to 7:00PM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 30 at 10:00AM in St. Mary’s Church, Spring Street, Newport. Burial will be private.
