Peter R. “”Boo”” Booth
1950 – 2015
Peter R. “Boo” Booth, 65, passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2015 at his home in Middletown, RI. He was born on Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 1950 in Newport, RI to Frank & Helen (Silvia) Booth.
Pete grew up in Newport; graduating from Rogers High School Class of 1968.
After high school, Peter attended Seamen school in New York City sponsored by the National Maritime Union. He then signed on as an Able Bodied Seaman aboard an American Export Lines cargo ship.
Pete joined the Newport Fire Department in1973; was promoted to Lieutenant in 1990, Captain in 1995 and Deputy Chief in 1998. He retired in 2002, having served for 29 years.
Peter was also an employee and partner in Booth Parking for over thirty years.
Peter is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jackie (Mathieu), his son Brian Booth, daughter Allison Booth and stepsons, Eli, Zachary and Luke Palmisciano. He is also survived by his brother, Edwin Booth and sisters Judy (Booth) Hausner & Janet Booth. He was the brother of the late John Booth. He leaves his Aunt Tiiu Booth as well as sister and brother-in-laws, daughter-in-laws, eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed his retirement years; dividing his time between golf, gardening, shooting pool and riding his Harley Davidson. Peter was a friend of Bill W. for the past 29 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 4-7pm at the O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring Street, Newport. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, July 9 at Green Valley Country Club, 371 Union St., Portsmouth, RI.
