NEWPORT, R.I. — Minimalism and monumental sculpture will take center stage at Rosecliff on Friday, March 6, when The Preservation Society of Newport County hosts a panel tied to its current “Full Circle” exhibition.
The discussion, titled “An Inside Look at the ‘Full Circle’ Exhibition,” begins at 6 p.m. and explores the legacy of Monumenta, the groundbreaking 1974 outdoor exhibition that brought large-scale modern sculpture to Newport. The show featured major artists and helped shape conversations around minimalism and public art that continue today.
The panel includes original Monumenta artist Richard Fleischner and contemporary artist Uri Aran. The conversation will be moderated by Natalie Bell, chief curator at the MIT List Visual Arts Center.
Organizers say the program offers an insider’s look at the vision behind Monumenta and its influence on contemporary art over the past five decades.
A reception will follow the lecture, and the Rosecliff galleries will remain open for attendees.
