The Newport Police Department is hiring

The City of Newport is accepting applications for future Newport Police Officer positions. Minimum qualifications for testing: 21 years of age as of 04/14/17, a High School graduate or GED and a valid driver’s license are required.

Hiring process: to include physical agility, written examination, initial interview, background investigation, 2nd interview, psychological interview, physical agility for RI Police Academy and interview with the Chief. Applicants must pass each phase of the process to qualify.

Applicants must complete an Employment Application which can be obtained from the City of Newport Human Resource Office or on the City of Newport web site.

Applications will be accepted at Newport City Hall human resource office (43 Broadway) from Monday March 27th, 2017 – Friday April 14th, 2017 no later than 4:00 PM with a non-refundable testing fee of $20.00 and required documents. The required documents are a birth certificate, high school diploma or GED, DD-214 if applicable and driver’s license.

Police Officer Trainee (RI Municipal Police Academy)……………………………..$773.00 per week
Probationary Police Officer…………………………………………………………………..$50,095.00 per year
Permanent Police Officer……………………………………………………………………..$53,849.00 – $66,897.00 per year
