Chalk this up as just one more reason to finally cut the chord and get rid of cable tv.
Twitter has reached a deal with the National Football League to stream Thursday Night Football games, according to a tweet from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. The NFL says the streams will be free, and won’t require viewers to authenticate through a cable subscription to watch.
“Twitter is where live events unfold and is the right partner for the NFL as we take the latest step in serving fans around the world live NFL football,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in a statement.

The NFL live streams will be available through Twitter’s app on phones, tablets and some Internet-connected TV sets.
The deal also includes “pre-game Periscope broadcasts from players and teams, giving fans an immersive experience before, during and after games,” the partners said in a press release.
Ten of the 2016 season’s sixteen Thursday night games are included in the deal.
