Newport Police are investigating a shooting that left two men dead early Tuesday morning at the intersection of King and William Streets in the Historic Hill neighborhood of Newport.
Both men were shot in the head and were pronounced dead at Newport Hospital shortly after police were called to the scene just before 2am.
According to Newport Police Captain Russell Hayes this is a potential murder-suicide “Right now, we’re still speaking with some witnesses. It appears there was an argument between the two men who apparently knew each other and at one point somebody introduced a weapon into that argument and one person was shot. The other person may have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
