Rhode Island’s tall ship OLIVER HAZARD PERRY is departing The Hinckley Company’s shipyard (Portsmouth, RI) Thursday morning, bound for New London’s Maritime Heritage Festival. They are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to work alongside the crew for the weekend. Join them for a four-day adventure!
Interested participants should be on the dock at 0800 tomorrow morning (September 10th), ready to get underway. The ship will head south down Narragansett Bay before sailing west across Rhode Island Sound and Block Island Sound and docking in New London tomorrow night. OLIVER HAZARD PERRY will remain at the festival dock throughout the weekend where the crew and volunteers will give ship tours to the public. Docent training will be provided. The ship will return to her Portsmouth dock on Sunday, September 13th.
More docent opportunities will be available during the Newport International Boat Show fromSeptember 17th – 20th. OLIVER HAZARD PERRY will be berthed at the Perry Mill Wharf for the duration of the show and will be offering ship tours to all visitors with a festival wristband.
