As the start of the 2016 great white shark season is upon us, let’s take a look back at the stats from 2015.
In the 2015 season, the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, working with Dr. Greg Skomal of the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, identified 141 great white sharks in the waters off of Cape Cod (100 new and 41 recaps). 24 white sharks were tagged, there were 3 white shark strandings, one successful rescue, and the team captured the first image of a white shark breaching off the coast of Cape Cod while hunting seals!
The first great white shark of 2015 was detected on June 22nd. Any guesses on when the first great white of 2016 shows up?
