Don Gardner works on Broadway and he loves it! Don returns to the show this week to tell us what’s new on Broadway, why the locals go there, and who makes a killer espresso martini. Plus, Helena dives into more Work, as she discusses how observing the many “I”s within us is another step toward real happiness.
Freebie of the Week, :40 – 4:10
Purgatory Chasm is a stunning and easy place to visit while in town. The rock formation was created thousands of years ago by glaciers. The chasm is the result of weathering and from the effects of the sea. Today the chasm is about 10’ wide at the top, 120’ long, and over 50’ deep. Upon arriving at the park’s entrance, you’ll take a short walk to the chasm area. Once you’re there, you can enjoy the beautiful view from the cliff overlooking Second Beach, the Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge and Sachuest Bay, or walk to the small pedestrian bridge, allowing you a view straight down into the center of the chasm.
Don Gardner Says “Go Where the Locals Go”, 4:10 – 21:40
Don Gardener joins us once again to share updates on what’s happening in this other hub of Newport. While there are no water views from Broadway, there are (in our opinion) some of the absolute BEST restaurants and bars in town. If you want to feel comfortable and at home, Broadway is where the locals go.
More on the Work of Discovering Happiness, 21:40-end
At the tail end of this episode, Helena dives in to the Work. She picks up where we left of in Episode 90 and talks about self-observation and the many “I”s that live inside of us. Self-knowledge is the first step toward clearing the obstacles in our way to happiness. Are you in? Hit the PLAY button and find out!

ABOUT:
THAT NEWPORT SHOW is a weekly podcast sharing the stories and characters that make Newport, Rhode Island America’s favorite city by the sea.
With each episode, hosts Buck & Helena share their Newport experiences in segments like Dine & Dish, Adventure Island, and Shop Newport.
Buck and Helena are a couple of old punks who survived what they call “the toddler years” (plus a few extra). As they slowly regain their sanity, this smart and silly couple are once again venturing out into the world to get their party on. They may be a bit slower these days, but they are also a lot wiser. And honestly, a lot more fun. Read more about your hosts.
While That Newport Show features a lot of what Newport has to offer both visitors and residents, the essence of show is about two grown-ups who really have no business being grown-ups, and the things they get up to in Newport – as well as at home on their small New England horse farm.
Each week the Sparkle and Boom Podcast Network airs a new episode. You can stream or download episodes from our website, or listen on iTunes, GooglePlay, Stitcher Radio, or your favorite podcatcher app. We hope you’ll join us!
