Ray Botelho, a native Newporter and 1992 graduate of Rogers High School, continues his amazing 2015 Professional Ironman Triathlon season this Sunday, September 27th at IRONMAN Chattanooga, Tennessee.
IRONMAN Chattanooga will begin with fast, down-current 2.4-mile swim in the Tennessee River. The bike course (116 miles) will head south of town and do two loops in North Georgia with scenic farmland and mountain views. The two-and-a-half loop, 26.2-mile run course will showcase beautiful downtown Chattanooga, the South Side, Riverview and the North Shore. Race organizers expect a fast, rolling course.
The Pro Mens start is a 7am. Ray will be wearing Bib #15 and can be tracked live at IronmanLive.com
The 42-year-old Botelho, who first turned pro at age 22, seems to only get better with age. In IRONMAN competition this year, Botelho took 9th at the 70.3 Eagleman in Cambridge, Maryland, 12th at the IRONMAN North American Championships in Woodlands, TX and 2nd a the Pumkinman Half Iron in South Berwick Maine.
IRONMAN Chattanooga offers 50 slots to the 2016 IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
