Timothy J. Brennan, of Middletown, RI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 11, 2016, surrounded by his family and friends at Newport Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Judith Ford Brennan.
Born May 1, 1947, he was the son of the late Thomas and Rose (Meehan) Brennan of Newport. Tim was a 1966 graduate of Rogers High School and a graduate of Salve Regina University, receiving his degree in Criminal Justice. He served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970. He returned to Newport and began his 21 year career as a Newport Police Officer retiring as a Lieutenant in 1991. He then worked for many years as an electrician at Dunbar and Brennan with his friend and partner Ronnie Dunbar and then became a member of IBEW Local Union 99 for 10 years.
Tim was at his happiest in retirement with his wife in Florida, fishing, boating and entertaining his children, grandchildren and friends.
In addition to his wife, Tim is survived by his daughters; Melissa Rose (Jim) Quinlan, Katherine Elizabeth Brennan, Kristin Marie Brennan all of Middletown, RI and, daughter of the heart, Taylor Sabatino of Warwick, RI; and grandchildren, James Timothy Quinlan and Kyle Anthony Brennan, both of Middletown.
He is also survived by his brother, Robert Brennan of Middletown, RI; and his sister-in-law, Martha Nugent of Scituate, MA; nephews, Raleigh and James, and nieces, Lori, Christine and Caroline and their families.
He was the brother-in-law of the late Judith (White) Brennan of Middletown, RI.
At the request of the family, burial will be private.
