The 28th Annual Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice survey has recognized T. F. Green Airport (PVD) as the 3rd best in the United States citing its convenience and location as the Gateway to Southern New England. Green follows number one and two ranked: Indianapolis and Portland, Oregon and is the top rated airport in New England. Green moved up the list from last year’s poll when it was ranked 7th best in the country.
“The gateway to Rhode Island is also the gateway to Southern New England. A newer train station at the airport connects travelers to both Providence and Boston. There’s even train service to Foxboro for Patriots football games. The airport is small and it takes no time to navigate.”
The annual Readers’ Choice poll results, which are included in Conde Nast Traveler’s November issue, rate hotels, airlines, airports and tourist destinations around the world. PVD, at #3, was followed by the Tampa, Palm Beach, Austin, Portland, ME; Salt Lake City, Nashville and Long Beach on the top ten list.
Kelly Fredericks, Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) President and CEO, said, “We could not be more pleased and proud that Green is again rated as one of the best in the US and the best in New England. This acknowledgement reaffirms that people truly enjoy using our airport for the exceptional customer service and pleasant travel experience. We share this latest recognition with all our travel partners, who work to ensure a safe and efficient journey and make Green one of the best airports in the country. We also thank those who took the time to vote for us in the Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards and congratulate the other airports on the list.”
Jon Savage, Chair of the RIAC Board, said, “This is a tremendous recognition of our airport. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to thank the entire airport team for making this prestigious award possible. Were it not for your collective efforts, these newsworthy accolades would not be continually forthcoming. As our domestic and international air service options increase, we hope more travelers will come to enjoy the “Green” experience and discover just how convenient our airport can be from parking, bus or commuter rail to the gate. Job well done!”
Governor Gina Raimondo said, “My principal focus as Governor is attracting companies to invest in Rhode Island and put people back to work here. When I am making my pitch, I always highlight our strategic location, proximity to world-class colleges and universities, and our convenient, easy-to-access airport. It is great to see T.F. Green airport recognized nationally as one of the top three airports in the country and the top rated airport in New England. I applaud RIAC for their work to create such an efficient travel hub – I am confident T.F. Green will play an important role in Rhode Island’s comeback as we work to attract more businesses, visitors, and families to grow our economy.”
Scott Avedisian, Mayor of the City of Warwick, said, “We are happy that people from all over the world are using Green Airport and finding it to be one of the best in the US. This type of award is also a testament to the many dedicated individuals, who have a role in Green’s daily management and operations and in making our airport the 3rd best in the country. Congratulations to Kelly and the team!
